The main improvement was the use of the more powerful Merlin type 45 engine and a version with a mixed armament of four 7.7mm machine guns and two 20mm cannon was named "Mk.Vb". Some Mk.Vb's has slipped wing tips for better low altitude maneuverability. In 1942, the Spitfire was also urgently required for operations overseas. One of the better known versions was the North African prepared Spitfire designated "TROP.", for Tropical. To protect engine from sand, a Vokes air filter was affixed over the carburetor intake. Although the filter was successful, its large mass reduced the aircraft's speed. The problem was solved by 103rd maintenance unit stationed at Aboukir, who designed a smaller more streamlined unit that was equally effective. The drive of the UH-60 D version is provided by two General Electric T-700-700 engines with a capacity of 1560 HP each. The flight of the first prototype took place in 1974, and serial production, which started in 1974, is still ongoing. It is estimated that over 4,000 copies of this helicopter were built by 2017.

The Sikorsky UH-60 was created in response to a tender launched in 1972 by the US Army for a new transport helicopter to replace the UH-1 Huey machines. The new machine was supposed to have better performance, be cheaper to operate and be characterized by high survivability on the battlefield. All these criteria were met by the machine of the Sikorsky concern, with particular emphasis on the last of the above-mentioned elements. Many development versions of this very solid and successful helicopter were created in the course of serial production. The basic version was designated as UH-60A, which was used primarily for transport purposes. Later, the UH-60L version with more powerful engines was introduced, which increased the lifting capacity of the machine. A version of the S-70 International was also created, widely offered - often successfully - to foreign customers. It is worth adding that at present (2017) this version is produced in the plants in Mielec. Numerous specialized versions have also been created, such as the MH-60A, which is dedicated to American special forces.

On the basis of the UH-60, the marine version, the SH-60 Seahawk, was also significantly changed. MH-60 helicopters actively participated in the intervention in Granada (1983), the operation in Mogadishu (1993), both wars in Iraq (1990-1991 and 2003), as well as in the operation in Afghanistan from 2001. Later on, in order to increase the effectiveness in the Swedish air defense system, the JA-37 "Jaktviggen" version was developed. It has been equipped with a new set of avionics, radar and weapon system able to enhance its role of all-weather fighter-interceptor aircraft. In terms of design the Viggen was characterized by the adoption of the delta-canard aerodynamic solution and it was powered by the big and powerful Volvo RM8 afterburning turbofan. Thanks to it the Viggen was able to reach the max speed of Mach 2,1. The Saab Viggen has been progressively replaced by the new and technologically advanced Saab JAS 39 Gripen.

Type: Fighter aircrafts
Period: Modern
Country: Sweden
Skill: 3
Model Dim.: 34,2 cm
Box Dim.: 345 x 242 x 60 mm

["1/72 plastic","plastic models","plastic planes
"option1":"Default Title","option2":null,"option3":null
["Default Title
["//gpmodels.co.za/cdn/shop/products/2785_box.jpg?v=1666187728","//gpmodels.co.za/cdn/shop/products/2785_tavola-lr.jpg?v=1666187729
//gpmodels.co.za/cdn/shop/products/2785_box.jpg?v=1666187728
Title

Description

ORIGINAL MOULDS FROM ESCI - COLOUR INSTRUCTION SHEET - SUPER DECALS SHEET FOR 4 VERSIONS

The Saab Viggen fighter has been, for years, the backbone of the Swedish Air Force.
